One year ago today, after stopping to visit my aunt in the hospital and taking her some apple crisp, I stopped and bought some pregnancy tests.
Anyone who has tried to use the cheap internet test strips to see if you are pregnant knows how hard it is to tell if there are two lines or if the one line is darker than the other one. So I decided to get one pack of the regular lined ones and one pack of the digital ones that would give me a straight answer...none of this fuzzy maybe you are maybe you aren't stuff.
I got home, went into the bathroom, did my thing....and waited. It seemed like those five minutes took fifty. But then I looked down at the stick and saw the word I had been dying to see for so long.
PREGNANT.
I called for my husband to come in, and started shaking my head and smiling and crying and said...we are going to have a baby! We hugged and let out some deep sighs and hugged some more.
It was amazing to know we were getting ready to start an amazing journey.
Then the next day I tested with some different brands, just to make sure it was real.
Yep....they all were saying the same thing...we were going to have a baby!
So last year at this time I was looking at this.....
and now I am amazed to look at this.....
I am so blessed and thankful for those little sticks for giving me some of the best news I have ever received! The fact that my little girl had begun to grow inside of me.
And that our lives were about to change in remarkable amazing ways.

Dear Baby Grace
***In the midst of everything, I realized I had this post saved in draft status and never posted it. Oops! So before I post our birth story, I thought I would go ahead and post this last letter to our baby before she was born. Stay tuned for how Miss Grace was brought into this world later this week***
Dear Baby Grace,
Dear Baby Grace,
Tomorrow is the day we have been waiting for...we will be going to the hospital to meet you! Since it doesn't seem like you are in a big hurry to make your way out before you get too big, the doctor is ready to get things rolling at 4:45 in the morning. I'm sure that it will be scary for both of us, but the end goal is to get you here safely and sometimes we need a push in the right direction. So we are going to induce labor in the morning to get Mommy's body ready to help push you out!
I said a prayer the other night before our doctors appointment. I know that God is aware of what my body is capable of and that if he wanted you to come into this world naturally then I knew that my body would be able to get thru it, if it turned out that you were too big and we had to bring you into this world by c-section, then I was fine with that too. And at our appointment it was decided that we would try to get you here naturally. So there is someone up there that knows how you are supposed to be born, and I'm just thankful to have a knowledgeable doctor who won't push things too far if he thinks you are in danger.
I can't wait to finally meet you tomorrow....we have been waiting a long time to hold you in our arms. Not just the 10 months that I carried you in my belly, but in the years that we waited to have you. I know that you will just be perfect. And I hope that I can make you the happiest baby ever! We are all new at this parenting thing, just like you are new at this baby thing. So please be patient with me while I learn your cues and get better at trying to predict what you are going to want or need before you try to tell me. I know it will get easier with time, but at first Mommy might be a little confused.
I apologize in advance for any screaming or crying that I may do tomorrow before you make your way out of my tummy. They tell me its gonna hurt more than anything that I can imagine, so I'm sure that its gonna take everything that I have to push thru it. But just remember...Mommy isn't yelling at you. Its not your fault and I hope you don't remember any of it if it stressful at all. But you are so worth it and to be able to hold you and look into your eyes at the end of this amazing process is something that I was fearful that I would never get to experience. What a blessing we are about to receive!
We are about to start an amazing journey together!
We love you to the moon and back! See you tomorrow sweetheart!

39 wks
How Far Along am I: 39 Weeks
Size of baby: Baby Girl is the size of a watermelon
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 36 lbs since conception
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 36 lbs since conception
Maternity Clothes: yes, thank goodness
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: She is moving around mostly in the mornings after breakfast and then randomly throughout the day. Once I lay on the couch for the evening she normally gets her moves going again and then settles down for the night.
Sleep:I am tossing and turning alot these days, it literally feels like I am carrying a watermelon when I flip over at night. And my back has begun to get a little achy in the mornings.
What I miss:This week I would have to say shorts or capris. Its been in the 90's here most of the time and the best summer clothing I have are yoga capris. And they aren't very breathable but they are much better than jeans or yoga pants.
Cravings: I've been wanting hot fudge sundaes....more specifically peanut buster parfaits.
Yum. Chocolate and Spanish peanuts.
Symptoms: I mentioned the swelling, it continues, especially in this heat. And for some reason when I get up at night it seems like my right heel is broken...lots of pain in that foot.
Measurements: Zero Dilation and effacement. We had an ultrasound on Tuesday and they are estimating Grace to be at 8 lbs and 5 ounces right now!
Her abdomen is measuring about 2 wks ahead and her head and femur are about a week behind.
So looks like we've got a little fluffy baby on our hands!
Best Moment this week: It has been a pretty good week overall. Had 2 contractions last night, about half an hour apart, so nothing to call anyone about, but at least its the start of something.
We go back to the doctor on Monday and see how things are coming along.
Can't believe we are just one week away from the due date!

Size of baby: Baby Girl is the size of a watermelon
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 35.5 lbs since conception
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 35.5 lbs since conception
Maternity Clothes: yes, thank goodness
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: She s still getting her kicks in bout 2-3 hours, but I have noiticed the phases of movementsd have decreased some. She's not as active as often. I'm sure its because she is running out of room in there!
Sleep:I am tossing and turning alot these days, my hips are getting so sore and my lower back has been hurting towards the morning hours.
What I miss:This week I have been wanting some wine...not sure why, nothing to stress over or to celebrate, just has been looking goof at the market.
Cravings: Sonic andburgers again...this little one wants some protein!
Symptoms: I mentioned the swelling, oh the swelling! Its basically around all the time once I stand on my feet for the day. Flipflops are my friend, its getting too hot to wear my tennis shoes. I have been having BAD heartburn when I go to bed and in the middle of the night again, but not right after I eat like I was before.
Measurements: Zero Dilation and effacement. She's still camping out with no signs of leaving early. Go on Tuesday for an ultrasound to get an idea of how big Miss Grace is going to be and make sure everything is going smoothly!

Best Moment this week: I had another strong contraction this week, happened right before bed. It lasted over a minute and thought it was the start of something, but then it went away and didn't invite any friends over. And we spent some time taking some maternity pictures which we are continuing to edit. The picture above is from 37.5 wks and the one below is from 38.5 wks...so you get an idea of where I am at 38 wks!

Movement: She has been moving alot more in the mornings than she used to. Still rolling from side to side, which I love to watch! Who would have thought it would make me smile to stare at my belly for so long each night after dinner?
Sleep:I am doing alright with the sleeping. Normally I fall asleep on the couch watching tv with my husband, while Emma rests on what is left of my lap that she can fit on. Then I go upstairs and manage to get some shut eye between my trips to the bathroom which is roughly every 2 hours at this point. But I'm sleeping good when I go back to bed, so that makes it easier.
What I miss:Having multiple shoe choices. And not being out of breathe after climbing the stairs.
Cravings: Back to ice cream this week. Butter Pecan to be exact. Oh and lemon iced tea...which I NEVER drank before. I've splurged on a few of those this week.
Symptoms: I mentioned the swelling, but besides that and the tightening of the tummy, I haven't really had too many problems. I have occasional heartburn right before bed, but mostly its gone from the daylight hours. This week I have had some dull pains in my lower right side, thinking its maybe due to her dropping a little and getting ready to make her way into the world!
Measurements: Zero Dilation and effacement. She's not in any rush to leave the womb.

Best Moment this week: It would be a toss up between getting back and foot rubs from my husband on multiple nights. He is so wonderful about taking care of me when I am achy. I'm a lucky girl. This week was my first internal check at the doctors (not fun at all btw) and also the first time I will start seeing him weekly. This made me realize just how close I am to having this baby!
3 weeks! Wow this last trimester has flown by. I had my first strong contraction today at work, which was my second all together, last Saturday I had a short one after a long day of shopping. But today was a real sign that I need to start slowing down a bit and not pushing myself if I want to keep calm and let my body tell me when things are going to be happening.

You Capture-Motherhood
My First Mother's Day.
I rubbed and stared at my belly extra long this day.
Can she feel the love and awe that I have every time I feel her move?
I cried as I walked into her nursery that morning, filled with such love
for this little girl that I am carrying in my womb.
I cried when her daddy gave me my first card,
even before I opened it to see the words he picked just for me.
Then I cried more after I read those words.
He loves us both so much!
Motherhood....I am so ready to begin this journey.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 32 lbs since conception
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 32 lbs since conception
Maternity Clothes: yes, thank goodness
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: Tons of moves and kicks this week. She is getting higher and it kinda tickles my ribs. I am told this won't last too long. Soon it will hurt. But for now, it makes me smile. The Dr said she was measuring a bit bigger this week, but he would keep an eye on it and if it continues then we'll do another growth scan in a few weeks and see how she looks.
Sleep:I've been sick this week so the sleeping hasn't been the best. I've been tossing and turning more and tend to get kind of achy if I stay in one place too long. Sometimes I have to stretch out on my back but don't stay there for too long.
What I miss: Skinny ankles and being able to lift up my leg to put on my shoe while standing on one foot. Now I have to sit on the steps and contort myself just to get socks on. Its a beautiful sight.
Cravings: Nothing really too much this week, probably because I can't really taste anything.
Did try a piece of Hawaiian pizza because it sounded good....not so much.
Symptoms: I started getting a sore throat Sunday night and when I went for my appointment on Monday I was a sneezy runny nosed mess! The Dr gave me a Z pack to prevent it from turning into strept throat and told me to stay hydrated and rest. Spent Monday night on the couch falling in and out of sleep. Spiked a fever about 9pm and tried to cool down with a cool compress on my head. It went down some and spiked again at 100.5 about 1am. It wasn't a good night for resting. Slowly felt better everyday once the fever dissipated, but that was pretty scary. Not knowing how much of a fever was risky to our little one, I was worrying and eventually took a Tylenol to help move it along!

Movement: The little sweetie has been moving around a lot more this week. Seems like she is most active in the mornings and after dinner. Started to feel rolls from side to side more,
so hopefully she has a favorite spot.

Sleep: Next question. Sleeping well, but having trouble falling asleep after I get up at 3AM.
Rolling more often to get comfortable.

What I miss: Shoes that fit, my regular size ankles and not being out of breathe when I walk up the stairs.
Cravings: Still loving the burgers, but this week I've really wanted pop tarts. Not sure why the sugar cravings have popped back up, but I could literally eat a pack of cherry pop tarts every morning.
Symptoms: The swelling, oh the swelling! It now sometimes greets me in the morning, but most times doesn't make an appearance until after work. I've been having some Braxton Hicks contractions and feel my stomach tighten, mostly in the evenings. Need to start slowing down and not making sudden movements as I have been experiencing some muscle like pulls on the sides on my lower tummy. Take it easy lady!

Movement: She has been moving all the time, and lately almost seems to be doing the conga in my tummy. I had to start counting her movements this week and so far its been between 3-4 hours to get to 10 movements, but the first half of those happen in the first hour. She's getting close to kicking my ribs but hasn't done any damage yet!
Sleep: Not the best, but I am getting sleep. It's probably worse for my husband who is a light sleeper so my tossing and turning is probably starting to get annoying.
What I miss: Bending over and ice cream and sweets. I have been really good lately.
Cravings: Still loving the hamburgers. I'm taking iron supplements so maybe I'm just needing more from red meat, I don't really know. But I can't seem to get enough!
Symptoms: The swelling has continued and by the time I get home from work my ankles have turned into lite kankles. Not too much in my face that I notice yet, but the extremities are starting to feel it. But on a side note, Miss G had her first case of real hiccups this week. It kinda freaked me out a little bit, she would have like 5 hiccup, then stretch and my tummy would move from round to almost oval...then she would repeat the process.I felt bad but I know its a normal part of her growing and learning to suck.

Size of baby: Baby Girl is the size of a squash
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained just shy of 30 lbs since conception
Maternity Clothes: yes please!
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: The last week she has shifted and now moves from left to right and sometimes hangs out in the middle. I have started feeling her kick me a little higher and even think she took a jab at my ribs the other day!
Sleep: Uh, not so good. starting to realize that whatever side she moves to suddenly becomes uncomfortable and I have to switch. My arm has been falling asleep more often. And last night I think she got the hiccups about 4am, so that kinda freaked me out and kept me up a bit.
What I miss: Bending over and sleeping on my tummy. And wine. I could have used a glass of wine last week after working for 14 + hrs.
Cravings: Lately its been SONIC. Loving me some burgers and tater tots. I've even opted for unsweetened tea instead of soda to help keep the sugar down. The pellet ice makes it all worth it!
Symptoms: This has been a pretty good week, with the exception of being more tired and feeling some tightness in my sides. I'm sure it's just growing pains and not contractions. My bump has grown so much in the past 2 weeks I know its getting snug in there for her. Some swelling in my feet after a long day at work.
We started Lamaze this week, so its getting serious folks...she will be arriving in just 8 wks!

The 3 hour glucose test...not my idea of fun
As you may recall, I failed the 1 hour glucose test with a score of 147. You needed to be under 140 to pass. So this meant that I had to go thru a 3 hour test. We decided to do this on Friday morning. So I took the whole day off work just in case I felt drained like I did with the 1 hour test.
I had to fast for 12 hours before the test, so my last food was ingested was about 7:15 Thursday night. Only water from there on until they took my fasting blood draw at 7:30. I then had to drink a 100mg bottle of the tasty glucose drink.
Yeah, remember how I said the 1 hr drink wasn't bad and kinda tasted like melted popsiscles? Well this one was twice as strong, so it wasn't as pleasant. I now understand the coating people are talking about feeling on their teeth...it was like syrup. But I guzzled it down in the 5 minute window and the waiting began.
I felt fine during that first hour, maybe a slight "rush" about half way thru but nothing too noticeable. The tech called me back and I had my #2 blood draw done. Felt fine during and after that. So I went back to the waiting room to sit by hubby and actually kinda felt a little sleepy. About 15 minutes later, I started feeling a little light headed and like the room was starting to spin. I lifted my head up from his shoulder and started noticing that I felt a little warm. He looked over and asked if I was ok. I told him I was kinda feeling a little woozy. He got me a wet paper towel to hold to my face to cool me off. I took some deep breaths and the sounds of the room including my husband talking to me started fading out a little bit. I was like, I'm not feeling well at all,a little lightheaded like I'm gonna pass out.
Just then my mouth started salivating like I was going to puke. Then I got really warm and he said I was as pale as the walls. I said yeah, I don't feel right at all. So I asked him if he could walk me to the bathroom bcause I was thinking I was going to hurl. He slowly stood me up and walked me back their. I told him if I wasn't out in a few minutes to come check on me in case I passed out.
I shut the door and immediatly stripped off my shirt layer and just stood there with my tanktop on. I put a little more cold water on my face and kept spitting out the saliva that was building up in my mouth. It popped in my head, if I get sick...I'm gonna have to do this all over again. I felt bad enough having to make the baby go thru all this with me, if I was feeling this bad, I wonder how she was feeling? So I just took some more deep breaths and applied more water to my face and pushed thru it.
I walked back to the waiting room, still in my lovely tank top mind you and kinda stood there for a minute before sitting down. Once I sat down, the warmness started coming back so I got another towel to try to cool myself down. I slowly started feeling better, but decided to keep the towel and tanktop combo going since it was working so well. I had about 10 minutes before my next draw when hubs snapped this picture. Britney Spears anyone?
So I was nervous how I would do with the next blood draw (that would be #3 if anyone is counting) given the near pass out I had just encountered. It actually went ok and I walked back to the waiting room to begin the next hour of waiting. Started getting a little warm about 45 minutes thru that hour, but reapplied the cool compress and ended up feeling better pretty quick. Last and final blood draw #4 was up, and besides my vein feeling like a pin cushion, I was ok. Yeah, it left a mark....4 actually. This was when we got in the car....me thinks it will end up bruising, do you agree?
I had my bi-weekly checkup yesterday and the dr said that my sugar levels were fine, so yeah I passed! He did want me to cut out sweets and added sugar as a preventative measure. He said my pancreas was keeping up fine now, but he didn't want to make it work overtime in the final home stretch. So although there is no diagnosis, I am cutting out ice cream and nutty bars and whatever other sweet treat I have been enjoying too many of lately. Its all good for the baby, so I don't mind sacrificing for a few months!

I quickly took a drink of water since I wasn't allowed any since I started the stupid test and was able to get some of the sugar taste out of my mouth. I then had a spoonful of peanut butter to hold me over until we grabbed some lunch. The tech said I might want to try to eat something if I felt like it and I was like, ya think? I'm 8 months pregnant and haven't had food for 15 hours....hell yeah I'm going to eat something! So we got in the car and went directly to Burger King (my choice). The flame broiled goodness smelled so good, I had made a good choice. So although I was ravenous by this time, I was actually only about to eat about half my sandwich and fries and had to take the other half home. Which I finished about 2 hours later after napping on the way home. Gad that I took the whole day off, not my idea of how to spend a vacation day, but it was nice not to have to focus on numbers.
I am so thankful that my husband went with me and stayed the whole time. What if I had been alone when I started to feel like I was going to pass out and the tech was with another patient? Scary. I had told him he could leave to go grab some breakfast before my little episode, but he hadn't felt like it yet. And once I got lightheaded he wasn't leaving my side. What a great guy!I had my bi-weekly checkup yesterday and the dr said that my sugar levels were fine, so yeah I passed! He did want me to cut out sweets and added sugar as a preventative measure. Our 3D/4D Ultrasound
I can't believe that the time had finally come...we were 30 wks and it was time to get our 3D/4D ultrasound and get a sneak peek at our little girl! My husband was with me, he hasn't missed any appointments during my pregnancy which I am so thankful for. And we invited my Grandma as she is so excited about this baby.
I am so lucky to have her want to be so involved in this whole experience with me!
They had suggested drinking a little OJ before our appointment to get her moving, as sometimes little ones can just sleep and be faced away and never be seen. So I drank about half a small bottle (you know convenient store size) and hoped for the best. We got in, got propped up on the table, bared my tummy and got lubed up. She first pulled up the 2D side view and we once again got to see the cute little nose and view we had seen a few times before. Then she switched it to the 4D view. Wowza....what a difference!
The first shot they got was a butt shot, so we got the quick confirmation that she indeed is a girl. The tech moved the wand around until she found her face curled up on my left side using my placenta for a pillow it seemed.
Hello little girl! So nice to see your cute little face!
Are you gonna move around for Momma? And boy did she hear my request! She was moving all over the place! She had her feet up by her head most of the time and would be kicking the umbilical cord to and fro. Her head is down, so that's a good thing, and confirmed why most of the movement seems to be lower, she is curled up most of the time. She even at one point kicked herself in the head, that girl has some muscles already! It was awesome to see her move around and even open her eyes from time to time.
She was kinda shy towards the beginning annd if it wasn't her feet up in her face, she had her hands on the side of her cheek.
She kept sucking on her fingers and playing with her cheeks.
Then decided just to put her whole fist in her mouth.
We did manage to get a little half grin out of her. I'm betting she's gonna have an ornery streak in her!
The tech ended up trying for a little longer than our allotted time to try to get her feet out of the way, so her cord would go down so we could get a clearer picture of her face, but she wasn't interested and eventually started almost getting fussy and had an "I'm getting annoyed" face. It was adorable, but then I felt bad for bothering her so we said we were good with seeing what we had.
Soon after that, she yawned and we knew it was time to head home. We both were beat!
What an amazing thing, we both were so happy we got to get a glimpse at the miracle that is happening inside of me! We think she will have my nose and chin, I'm thinking my husbands forehead and not sure about the chubby cheeks....those may have been from both of us!
She is beautiful and now when I feel her moving around, I can picture her in there and the expressions she must be having and it makes it seem even more real then it had before, it that is possible for being 8 months pregnant! I can't wait to meet her in 2 short months....and tell her how beautiful she is in person!

Size of baby: Baby Girl is the size of a head of lettuce
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 25 lbs since conception
Maternity Clothes: Everything below the waist, a few larger shirts from before are still making an appearance
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: She has been moving lots mostly on my left side, i think she likes that side better for some reason
Sleep: This is getting more difficult. While the number of times I am getting up in the middle of the night has decreased, normally the final time I get up, which is about 4-5am, is proving hard to fall back asleep
What I miss: Bending over easily and sleeping on my tummy.
Cravings: This week hasn't really brought any cravings, I'm filling up so much quicker with meals, I have no room for dessert.I failed my 1 hour glucose test and had to retake my 3 hour test yesterday so maybe that's making me steer clear from the sugary treats too.
Symptoms: This week I have felt pretty good overall, had a few of what I am thinking were Braxton Hicks contractions earlier in the week in the afternoon at work. Almost felt like someone made me uterus into a fist real quick and then let go..did that twice and then was done.Otherwise, heartburn has been at a minimal and no backaches this week! Yeah baby girl, thank you!

How Far Along am I: 29 Weeks
Size of baby: Baby Girl is the size of a squash
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 25 lbs since conception
Maternity Clothes: All maternity except a few shirts. Last week with my low rise jeans, sad but its getting too uncomfortable!
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: I've been feeling her move daily, but its calmed down a bit,I think she is resting more and growing
Sleep: It's getting a little more uncomfortable to fall asleep but I'm sleeping better when I do if that makes any sense at all.
What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy definitely. And being able to bend over easily. That is getting trickier to do.
Cravings: This week I've been pretty good with the ice cream, only had it once. Of course I was smart enough to avoid it the day before my glucose test.
Symptoms: Been feeling pretty good, besides the occasional heartburn at night, only real aches have come when I get up in the morning and that's in my lower tummy from being curled up I think. Little girl is treating her Momma well!

Size of baby: Baby Girl is the size of a eggplant
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 20 lbs since conception
Maternity Clothes: All of my pants are maternity pants but I can still wear some of my big regular sweaters. I am still in some low ride pants, but am finding my full belly panel ones much more comfortable as I continue to grow bigger. Got another pair of jeans this week...can't wait to wear those!
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: I've been feeling her move daily, seems like she is most active in the morning and right after dinner.
Sleep: It's getting a little more uncomfortable to fall asleep but I'm sleeping better when I do if that makes any sense at all.
What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy definitely. Seems like I tend to roll on my stomach while I'm on my side and then I realize its starting to hurt and switch sides.
Cravings: Um this week I'd have to say peanut butter ice cream...yeah not the healthiest but its so dang good!
Symptoms: Been having some major charlie horses in my calves in the middle of the night, and a few aches and pains after sitting too long, but nothing really too much to complain about.

Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: Baby girl is moving daily, seems to be sleeping for a few hours, then I'll have a few movements. Then back to sleep a little more and repeat. Last night when I finally laid down in bed, she started to move like normal and then all of a sudden....THUMP! STRONGEST KICK YET! My hand almost lifted off my tummy a little! It was amazing, she is getting pretty strong in there!
I think she was telling me we should have went to bed earlier!
I think she was telling me we should have went to bed earlier!
Sleep: So-so....I've been tossing and turning more lately and seem to wake up about 4:30ish and have trouble falling back asleep for that last little bit of rest before my alarm.
What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy definitely. And I had a dream I drank a beer the other night, even though I haven't thought about that much at all. Must be reliving old St. Patty's Day memories!
Cravings: Still salads and new this week is burgers...I have been craving flame broiled beef! Oh and I may have had a nutty bar or two this week.
Symptoms: Feeling pretty good this week, only complaint really has been the last few days. My left back shoulder achy was achy a bit and then yesterday I experienced my first pregnancy backache.
Holy mother it was a new kind of pain.
(actually I am blaming that on the exhausted look on my face in the above picture, it was a long day at work!) But I'll take it to keep little girl growing!
I kinda think its because I've worked more this week and been stuck at my desk for longer periods. Feels good so far today, so gonna try to stretch out and take a little walk every hour or so.

Maternity Clothes: All of my pants are maternity pants but I can still wear a handful of my regular shirts. I am still in some low ride pants, but am finding my full belly panel ones much more comfortable as I continue to grow bigger.
Gender: It's a GIRL!
Movement: I can feel her moving every hour, sometimes more than others. She is currently head down, so the thumps I am feeling must be her little arms stretching! She is starting to move closer to my belly button, but mostly stays pretty low.
Sleep: This week it hasn't been the best as far as sleeping goes. For some reason my left shoulder has been achy from laying on my side, so I'm tossing and turning a few times. But once I'm asleep I'm good. Haven't rested much this week, been running around a lot.
What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy mostly. And this week I've been wanting wine and lobster. Thanks Lobster Month commercials...you are working.
Cravings: This week it's salads, Rocky Road Ice cream and bean burritos!
Symptoms: This week I've had some slight pain in my lower side regions, but nothing too long to make me think it's Braxton Hicks contractions or anything. But yesterday the top of my belly button was hurting sooo bad, kinda like it was stretching out or being pulled from the inside. Owie. Otherwise, I'm feeling great and love being pregnant!

Size of baby: Baby Girl is the size of a eggplant
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 14+ lbs since conception (next appt is Tuesday I'm a little scared to step on the scale- I feel like I've gained 10 lbs since last month)
Maternity Clothes: All of my pants are maternity pants but I can still wear a handful of my regular shirts
Gender: It's a GIRL! (Having another ultrasound to confirm March 1)
Movement: She has been moving ALOT this last week. I feel little somersaults and jabs or kicks a few times an hour now. Most of the time they tend to be on the left side of my belly. They have slowly started moving their way up my tummy and are currently just under my belly button. If you look really close you can see my tummy move just a bit when she pops me!
Sleep: I have been so tired! Last night I was ready for bed at 9:30. This was after I had almost fallen asleep on the couch watching tv. Still getting up every 2 hours for bathroom breaks, and have been having trouble falling back asleep after the 5am visit. The snoring has continued.
What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy mostly. And now its getting tougher to bend over, putting my socks on is proving to be interesting lately.
Cravings: almost anything, I've been so hungry lately. But at the same time, I can't each much before I'm full. But lately a favorite has been the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad from Wendy's (without the blue cheese). I could eat one of those every.freakin.day!
Symptoms: I've felt pretty good the last few weeks, the last day or two my tummy has been feeling tighter. Sign that the increasing bump is not just in my head. Still have heartburn every now and then, but overall I've been feeling good. On an iron supplement now and I think that has made me feel more alert during the day, but still am konked out by evening.
Best Moment this week: It would have to be feeling this precious little girl start to move more. After dinner you can find me laid back on the couch with my short lifted up and my hands rubbing my belly waiting for the next round of action. An instant smile pops on my face when I feel the slightest thump in there! Its amazing!
*Even Ellie can't believe how much I've grown in the last few weeks!

What do I really need to put on my baby registry?
The time has come to start our baby registry! So exciting...grabbing the scanner and running thru the store scanning everything that I see that is pink or baby related.
I mean I'm sure I'll use a wipe warmer every.single.day right? (can you see my eyes rolling?)
But then the rational part of me who tends to be frugal or a penny pincher wonders if I REALLY need to put it on there. Will I use it or is it just like the one kitchen accessory that I thought I HAD TO HAVE that is currently gathering dust in my lazy susan?
Even if I'm not paying for it, I hate to have someone else waste their money on something that isn't necessary.
So this is where you come in....recent new moms of cuddly babies. I've got a few questions for you....can you help me with my registry???
1) Bottles. What brand, style and sizes should I start my collection with? I plan on breastfeeding, but will have to pump when I go back to work. There are so many types and styles and nipple sizes....what does everyone use?
2) Diapers. We will be going the disposable route so who wins the diaper war in your house....Pampers or Huggies? Or is the Sams Club brand just as good?
3) Baby Mattress. I know we need a certain size to fit our crib, but if given the option which is better coil or foam? I've read anything over 150 coils is firm enough. What type did your baby love?
4) Any other must haves that you wish you would have had (or wanted more of) when you brought your little one home? Is it true you can not have enough burp cloths?
5) Anything that you had and never used or thought was a waste of money? Like above mentioned wipe warmer perhaps?
Its such a hard thing, even though it is fun! I am trying to find that happy medium between only registering for stuff I've seen at new moms houses when I visit and overloading my registry with all the "suggested" items. Thank you all for your help, me and baby girl appreciate it!

I constantly have my hand on my stomach waiting to feel her again!
Sleep: I haven't been sleeping very well, last week it was congestion from my cold, this week its been pretty bad heartburn that keeps me awake.
But when I'm out...I'm out!
Oh yeah....and I have begun snoring. Lovely.
What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy mostly.
Cravings: Rainbow Sherbet, breadsticks and salad...and caramel corn, but I haven't caved to that one yet.
Symptoms: The cold has really been the only rough thing for the last few weeks. Except the last few days of severe heartburn. Hopefully this girl with have TONS of hair!
I did notice this week my tummy is starting to feel heavier when I stand up and go up and down the stairs
and it's starting to hurt to bend over too much.
I can almost feel my stomach expanding, which kinda hurts,
but I'm happy to give little girl more room to grow!

Best Moment this week: Finding out that our little one is a girl! The tech said she saw three little dots and no sign of boy parts, so we are hoping to start painting the nursery in March!
And having my husband feel the baby lightly move in my tummy, I can't wait for him to feel an actual kick!
Oh and our crib came yesterday so the room is officially starting to become a nursery!
